How The Planetary Society collects information

How The Planetary Society uses personal information

The Planetary Society uses the information we collect about you to be able to fulfill your subscriptions to The Planetary Report and e-newsletters; provide you with the services and the information about our activities and events that you have requested; administer any user accounts we set up for you; conduct surveys and process your response to any survey in which you participate; ensure that content from our site is presented in the most effective manner for you; invite you to become a member of our organization or to support our work with a charitable gift; to otherwise communicate with you in connection with our mission and activities.

If you have subscribed to The Planetary Society’s e-newsletter, we will generally send you several communications per month. If you would like to customise your subscriptions or opt-out of receiving all communications from The Planetary Society, visit our Member and User Center. Requests to unsubscribe may not take effect immediately.

Sharing of information

Except as set forth in this Policy, The Planetary Society will not disclose any of your personally identifiable information to partners, associated organizations and agents, or other 3rd parties. We may share information with trusted service providers and suppliers who are working under a contractual relationship to assist us with our programs and operations.

The Planetary Society uses safeguards to ensure that your personal information is secure. Once we have received your information, we will use appropriate procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access. We limit access to personal information and ensure that your information is only accessible by appropriately trained staff, volunteers, and contractors.

Our online forms are always encrypted and our network is protected and routinely monitored. We process credit cards in accordance to industry standards. If you use your credit or debit card to join or donate to us, we pass your card details securely to our payment processing partners. The Planetary Society does not store your credit card information for future use.

As a result, while we strive to protect your personally identifiable information, The Planetary Society cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk.
